About us
Sompoton Snack Shack originates from a family whose is from Borneo, situated (before Malaysia). Mariah (left) has dedicated her life to perfecting the art of mixed oriental cuisine. Mariah first worked in various restaurants around London and Scotland and 15 years in Asda Canteen. With hopes to improve her skills and the hopes of giving others the taste of her cooking, she took the plunge to open her first snack van (The Whistle Stop) which was situated in Armadale in 2012 before opening the second van and recalling it ‘Sompoton Snack Shack’ which was situated in Standhill Industrial Estate, Bathgate - ultimately has brought an authentic sizzling taste from her home town (Kota Marudu) to West Lothian.
Borneon/Malaysian cuisine is exotic with an exciting range of flavours and culinary styles offering the uninitiated and endless gastronomic adventure. It comprises three main groups; Malay, Chinese and Thai with each having its own distinct style of cooking and a British Caucasian twist on all foods i.e your traditional hot rolls, breakfast boxes and fry ups, and burgers everyone so loves so much!
As for myself, Safrina - Fortunately, I've inherited my mother's cooking skills, I can prepare various dishes but I have a more modern take twist on that side but as a daughter I let my mother do majority of the cooking, after all we all love our Mummy’s cooking!
Again, we can’t thank you for your continued custom and we can’t express our gratitude enough for your continued support 🧡
